List of Italian ambassadors in Constantinople and Ankara
From the 13th century onwards, Venetian baili to Constantinople were originated. The Bailos resided in the Venedik Sarayı Beyoğlu , which first came to Austria-Hungary after the sinking of the Serenissima and only became the seat of the embassy of the Kingdom of Italy in 1919. On October 13, 1923, Ankara became the capital of Turkey and the embassy address was Ataturk Bulvari, 118, Kavaklıdere . The Venedik Sarayı became the second residence of the Italian ambassador in Turkey and the seat of the Italian consulate general in Istanbul. An Italian cultural institute is housed in the building in Tepebaşı, Beyoğlu, where the Italian embassy was located until the First World War .
