The list contains the communities of all religions in Wuppertal as well as their meeting rooms or sacred buildings. The Protestant and Catholic churches are structured according to their parishes or parishes. For details of the places of worship in the congregations, see the list of Wuppertal sacred buildings .

Christianity

Evangelical Church in the Rhineland

The church districts Barmen and Elberfeld merged on January 1, 2005 to form the church district Wuppertal. After Manfred Rekowski (2005–2011), Ilka Federschmidt was elected first superintendent of the Wuppertal church district.

Secularized Churches

  • The Immanuelskirche (1869, Ernst Heinrich Glüer) of the former Reformed parish in Wupperfeld was profaned in 1984 and has since been maintained as a concert church by a sponsoring association.
  • The Trinitatiskirche (1878, Heinrich Bramesfeld ), former Lutheran church in the Elberfeld district of Arrenberg, now serves as an exhibition space for a dealer in used organs and pianos.
  • The Pauluskirche (1882, Gerhard August Fischer) designed for the United Evangelical Congregation Unterbarmen, has been rented out since 1991 and used for lectures, concerts and exhibitions, e.g. B. by the Bergische Universität Wuppertal . It is managed by the “Freundeskreis Pauluskirche Unterbarmen”, which rents it out for church services in the community.
  • The Kreuzkirche in the Langerfeld district was converted into a residential building in 2002 and mainly houses single mothers and fathers with their children.
