Longview is a city in the northeast of the US state of Texas , between the cities of Dallas in the West (125 miles) and Shreveport in Louisiana in the East (60 miles).
Longview is the seat of the county administration ( County Seat ) of Gregg County , which together with the counties Harrison and Upshur forms the Longview-Marshall-Gilmer Metropolitan Statistical Area in the east of the state of Texas.
The city is the cultural and economic center of the region and has an infrastructure of major national importance (two hospitals, three universities and colleges , regional airport, two museums). There are several state parks in the vicinity , which serve in many ways for local recreation.
