Louis Méjan

Louis Méjan (born June 5, 1874 in Codognan , † January 13, 1955 in Carqueiranne ) was a French politician. He was a member of the Senate from 1924 to 1930 .

Méjan initially made a career as an administrative officer, worked in ministries and was prefect . Under the direction of Aristide Briand, he worked on a law separating church and state. In 1924 Méjan won a seat in a by-election to the Senate. He replaced Gaston Doumergue , who had become president. In the Senate he belonged to a moderately left parliamentary group. He was re-elected in January 1930, but resigned in June 1930 for personal reasons and from his mandate as Member of the General Council in the Gard department . He died in 1955.
