Jean-Paul Fournier (born October 16, 1945 in Génolhac ) is a French politician. He has been a member of the Senate since 2008 .

Fournier graduated from high school in Nîmes and attended a college for advertising design in Brussels . He later headed a union in his branch. From 1986 to 1999 he was a member of the Handicrafts Chamber of the Gard department . Since 1977 he was a member of the Rassemblement pour la République and in 1984 became its secretary in the first constituency of the Gard department. In 1992 he was promoted to secretary in the department. From 1986 to 2001 he was a member of the Regional Council of Languedoc-Roussillon . He has also been a member of the General Council since 1988 . At the same time he was local politician in Nîmes, among other things as deputy mayor. In 2001 he was elected mayor, as which he was re-elected in 2008. In 2007 Fournier was named an officer of the Legion of Honor . A year later he succeeded in entering the Senate.
