Gaston Bazile
Gaston Bazile (born February 16, 1883 in Vauvert , † October 30, 1952 in Nîmes ) was a French politician. He was a member of the National Assembly from 1924 to 1931 and a member of the Senate from 1931 to 1945 .
Bazile came from a family of winemakers , but was orphaned at an early age. Thanks to a scholarship, he was still able to attend high school. In 1906 he became a qualified engineer in chemistry and then worked for some time in Spain. In 1914 he stood for the radical Parti républicain in the parliamentary elections, but failed. As a soldier he took part in World War I , including the Battle of Verdun . In 1924 he entered parliament. There he became Ministerial Director for Training Issues in 1926 . In 1931 he successfully stood in a by-election to the Senate, which had become necessary due to the resignation of Louis Méjan . He was re-elected in 1939 and supported the Vichy regime's enabling law in 1940 . For health reasons, Bazile did not appear again after the war. He died in 1952.
