Georges Bonnefoy-Sibour

Georges Bonnefoy-Sibour (born September 28, 1849 in Pont-Saint-Esprit , † July 10, 1918 in Neuilly-sur-Seine ) was a French politician. He was a member of the National Assembly from 1889 to 1893 and a member of the Senate from 1894 to 1918 .

Bonnefoy-Sibour came from an old Republican family. His grandfather and father Jacques were both mayors of Pont-Saint-Esprit. Georges was a winemaker and chairman of a society for the mutual support of winemakers. During the Franco-Prussian War he was captain of the drafts from the Gard department . When he moved into the General Council of the Département in 1877 , he had previously been mayor of Pont-Saint-Esprit. After two failed attempts in 1879 and in February 1889, he succeeded in entering the National Assembly in October 1889. In 1893 he was unsuccessful in re-election, but was able to win a seat in the Senate the following year. In 1903 and 1912 he was re-elected. In 1906 he held a report on the Dreyfus affair in the Senate . In 1918 he died after a brief illness during the legislative period.
