Léon Lustole
Léon Lustole (born September 30, 1893 in Roziers-Saint-Georges , † August 24, 1958 in Nîmes ) was a French politician ( PCF ). From 1945 to 1947 he was mayor of Nîmes and from 1946 to 1948 a member of the Conseil de la République in the Fourth French Republic , the then Senate .
Lustole was born the son of farmers in the Haute-Vienne department . He himself became an ironworker . In this context he was a trade unionist, first in Béziers and then in Nîmes. His participation in the Resistance brought him to the political stage after the liberation of France. As a member of the Parti communiste français (PCF), he was mayor of Nîmes from 1945 to 1947. He failed in the parliamentary elections in 1946, but soon became a member of the Conseil de la République. In 1948 he was not re-elected. He ran two more times in parliamentary elections in 1951 and 1956, but was also unsuccessful. In 1955 he also ran for the Conseil de la République. Lustole, the holder of the Médaille de la Résistance , died in Nîmes in 1958.
