Lucie Décosse

Lucie Décosse (born August 6, 1981 in Chaumont (Haute-Marne) ) is a French judoka , Olympic champion and three-time world champion. Until 2008 she mostly competed in the light middleweight division, the weight class up to 63 kilograms, and since 2009 she has started in the middleweight division up to 70 kilograms. She is an officer of the French National Order of Merit .

Career

Lucie Décosse won the bronze medal at the World Youth Games in Moscow in 1998, and in 2000 she won the Junior World Championships in Nabul. In 2001 she won her first major tournament victory in the adult class at the World Cup in Paris, and in early 2002 she won the European Championships in Maribor. After seventh places at the 2003 World Championships and the 2004 European Championships , Décosse also finished seventh at the 2004 Olympic Games .

In 2005 she won two international medals: after bronze at the European Championships in Rotterdam, she won the final at the World Championships in Cairo against Ayumi Tanimoto from Japan. In 2006 she was defeated in the final of the European Championships in Tampere against the British Sarah Clark , in September 2006 she won the team world title in Paris. In 2007 Décosse won the European Championships in Belgrade, at the 2007 World Championships she lost in the final against Driulis Gonzalez from Cuba. In 2008 Décosse won her third European title in Lisbon; At the 2008 Olympic Games , a rematch for the 2005 World Cup final took place, Tanimoto defeated Décosse after 1:26 minutes by Ippon.

After switching to the middleweight division, she also won this weight class at the 2009 European Championships in Tbilisi. In 2010 and 2011 she won the world championship title, at the European championships in 2011 she received the bronze medal. Her greatest success was her victory in the final fight against Kerstin Thiele at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
