Luka Chomytsch Palamartschuk (born September 6, jul. / 19th September  1906 greg. In the village Troschtscha ( Ukrainian Троща , Podolia Governorate , Russian Empire ; today Rajon Lypovets , Oblast Vinnytsia , Ukraine ); † 2. January 1986 in Kiev ) was a Ukrainian and Soviet diplomat and politician. Palamarchuk was Foreign Minister of the Ukrainian SSR from 1954 to 1965 .

Life

Luka Palamarchuk was a party member of the CPSU from 1928 . Between 1929 and 1952 he worked as a journalist. In 1949 he graduated from the History Faculty of Kiev University .

Between 1952 and 1954, Palamarchuk was Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Ukrainian SSR and on May 11, 1954, he became Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Ukrainian SSR. He held this office until August 13, 1965. From January 21, 1956 to March 15, 1966 he was a candidate for the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine . Following his ministerial office, he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USSR to Morocco between August 13, 1965 and October 25, 1972 . Palamarchuk died in Kiev in 1986.
