With the band Hans Moser Revival-Combo , founded in 1981, he began to deal with the Wienerlied while he was gaining his first experience as a bar pianist in Graz bars.

In 1985 he stayed in Columbus (Ohio) , where he studied jazz with Hank Marr and improvisation with Gary Carney at Ohio State University .

Back in Graz, he began to experiment with the then new sequencer music and realized, for example, the music for the world premiere of Peter Glaser's Osiris Legende at the Forum Stadtpark as part of the Styrian Autumn in 1988 under the direction of Christian Pölzl and Ernst M. Binder .

Resident in Vienna from 1989, Goldschmidt initially played the piano and accordion in a cabaret program by and with Leo Parthé .

He soon met the Ghanaian highlife interpreter Slim Young (1945–2002) and became a keyboardist in his band Sipisita , which led to long-term, formative and lasting collaboration with other African musicians.

In the summer of 1990, he and Peter Herrmann directed and accompanied the musical revue Wiener Lust with Hansi Lang in the Vienna Metropol . Various dialect theaters and Viennese song projects followed, such as Wien auf dem Zungenspitze with Ulli Bäer and Gerald Pichowetz , or with Adi Hirschal Samtorchester and then with Georg Danzer Liada for no reason . On the occasion of the Danube Festival in 1994 Goldschmidt accompanied Michaela Scheday as Lili Marilli under the direction of Herbert Gantschacher .

From 1996 to 2002 Goldschmidt worked in several productions at the Volkstheater (Vienna) as musical director and stage musician, where he worked under the direction of Ruth Drexel and Michael Gruner and with Heinz Holecek , Andrea Eckert , Otto Tausig , Toni Böhm , Fritz Hammel and many others others played numerous performances. Under the direction of Markus Kupferblums , Goldschmidt played in 1997 in the Drachengasse theater with Stephan Kreiss .

After some free band and theater projects in Vienna, for example in 2004 please allow, I ... , a production by dramagraz in the Rabenhof Theater , Goldschmidt was named criminal by Michael Gruner in 2008 for Faith, Love and Hope and in 2010 for the world premiere of Christoph Ransmayr's Odysseus, criminal engaged as composer, musical director and stage musician at the 'Schauspiel Dortmund'.

Lukas Goldschmidt can be heard and seen with bands or as a solo pianist such as the river cruise ship Emerald Sky on the Rhine, Main and Danube in 2015 and on various German-speaking stages (2012–13 Jagsthausen Castle Festival , 2015 Wiener Metropol ).
