Lukas Knöfler

Lukas Knöfler (born November 21, 1972 ) is an Austrian jazz musician ( drums ) who has also emerged in other genres.

Act

Knöfler, who grew up in Vienna, studied first at the Franz Schubert Conservatory for Music and Performing Arts in 1991/92, and in the following year at the Conservatory of the City of Vienna with Walter Grassmann and Alfred Mühlhofer. Between 1993 and 1997 he studied jazz drums at the Graz University of Music and Performing Arts with Erich Bachträgl , Manfred Josel and Alexander Deutsch . He then studied with Joey Baron and John Riley in New York in 1998/99 on a grant from the Federal Ministry of Science and Transport .

In the field of jazz he worked with artists such as Enrico Rava , Mark Murphy , Ed Neumeister , Klaus Dickbauer , Ray Anderson , Peter Herbert , Wolfgang & Christian Muthspiel , Red Holloway , Jay Clayton , Gary Barone , Julian Argüelles , Wayne Darling , Beni Schmid , Oliver Kent , Gerald Preinfalk , Jazz Big Band Graz , Harri Stojka , Karlheinz Miklin , Karl Ratzer , Raphael Wressnig and Jim Mullen . In addition, he was also active in the field of contemporary improvised music , where there was a collaboration with Elliott Sharp , Wayne Horvitz , Werner Dafeldecker , Andi Schreiber , Michael Mantler , Ernesto Molinari , Bertl Mütter , Andy Manndorff , Max Nagl , Achim Tang , Ingrid Oberkanins , Joanna Lewis , the Nouvelle Cuisine Big Band, and others came along. He could also be heard as a companion in the field of pop and rock music with PigDog, Josh und die Emotionen, Willi Resetarits , Erika Pluhar , Albin "Eub" Januschka and Willi Langer .

Knöfler played concerts and tours in Europe, Asia and America. He also worked as an instrument teacher.
