Maik Klokow

Maik Klokow (born January 13, 1965 in Wismar ) is a German musical and theater producer .

Life

Maik Klokow gained his first experiences in the theater field during his school days. After graduating from secondary school, he learned the trade of bricklayer at ZBO Parchim. In 1986 he began his theater career at the Parchim State Theater , where he trained as a stage master . Here he worked with Leander Haussmann , among others .

In 1989 Klokow applied to the musical organizer Stella AG . On January 1st, 1990 he started as a stage master at Starlight Express in Bochum. In the following years he was responsible in leading positions for numerous productions in Germany, including Cats , The Phantom of the Opera , Miss Saigon and The Beauty and the Beast . At the beginning of 2000, Joop van den Ende , owner of Stage Entertainment International, became aware of Klokow and hired him as General Manager for Germany. He was responsible for setting up theaters and developing live entertainment.

As managing director, he managed musical productions such as Elisabeth (Colosseum, Essen), Disney's Der König der Löwen (Theater im Hafen, Hamburg), Mamma Mia! (Operettenhaus, Hamburg), Titanic - Das Musical (Neue Flora, Hamburg), Pinkelstadt (Schloßparktheater, Berlin), 42nd Street (Apollo Theater, Stuttgart), Dance of the Vampires (Neue Flora, Hamburg), As once in May (Schloßparktheater, Berlin), Dirty Dancing (Neue Flora, Hamburg) and Wicked - Die Hexen von Oz (Apollo Theater, Stuttgart). Klokow also bought the theater in the Hamburg harbor, the venue for the musical Buddy Holly at the time . The Lion King has been shown there since December 2001 . Klokow developed the idea for the musical I was never in New York (Operettenhaus, Hamburg) and brought it to the stage as an in-house production of Stage Entertainment. The production Der Schuh des Manitu ( Theater des Westens , Berlin) also goes back to Klokow's ideas and was realized after his departure.

In the live entertainment sector, he produced and marketed shows such as Holiday on Ice , De La Guarda , Blue Man Group and one of the largest musical galas “Best of Musical”. He ran the Quatsch Comedy Club (Hamburg) and the Kehrwieder Theater ( Speicherstadt Hamburg) and organized the dance event " Sensation " in the Veltins-Arena (Gelsenkirchen). At the beginning of 2008 Klokow turned to new tasks and took over the management of the Düsseldorf group of companies from Thomas Krauth . At the end of 2008 he became the majority shareholder in the group, which also includes the sales company "TKS Ticket-Service und Veranstaltungen". Under the production label Mehr! Entertainment Klokow has been bundling its commitments in the entertainment segment since 2009 and produced a. a. Hape Kerkelings No Pardon - The Musical , Shrek - The Musical and Billy Elliot .

In April 2018 Maik Klokow sold the group of companies to the British theater operator The Ambassador Theater Group (ATG) , he will remain as managing director and producer. Klokows Mehr! Entertainment as multi-BB entertainment. With this he will produce the German-language world premiere of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in Hamburg in March 2020.

In his hometown of Parchim, Klokow runs a nationwide trading company for fastening technology and tools. Klokow sits on the board of trustees of the Fördergemeinschaft Kinderkrebs-Zentrum Hamburg e. V. and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Lebendige Stadt Foundation . He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Mecklenburg AnStiftung. He is married to the musical actress Anna Montanaro and has four children. In January 2017 he took part in the TV format Undercover Boss .

Awards

In 2002 Maik Klokow was awarded the "Hamburger of the Year" award.
