Manuel "Manu" Sánchez de la Peña (born August 24, 2000 in Madrid ) is a Spanish football player who is under contract with the first division club Atlético Madrid .

Career

Born in the Spanish capital Madrid , Manu Sánchez began his football training at UE Cornellà and moved to the youth department of Atlético Madrid in 2014 at the age of 13 . Towards the end of the season 2018/19 Sánchez was promoted in the reserve team, which in the third class Segunda División B . On March 30, 2019 (Matchday 31), he made his debut in a 2-0 away win against Salamanca CF UDS for Atlético Madrid B. In the remaining season, the left full-back played five more league games.

On August 30, 2019, Manu Sánchez signed a new four-year contract with Atleti . In this 2019/20 season he established himself as a regular in the reserve and was in the first team's matchday squad for the first time in November 2019. On December 14, 2019 (17th matchday) he made his debut in a 2-0 home win against CA Osasuna in the top Spanish division , in which he was in the starting lineup. After the forced break due to the COVID-19 pandemic , he was already a regular member of Diego Simeone's matchday squad and was also used in five league games.
