Antonio Adán Garrido (born May 13, 1987 in Madrid ) is a Spanish football goalkeeper .

Career

Career start at Real Madrid

Adán began his active career as a football goalkeeper in 1997 when he was accepted into the youth club of the capital's club. After a few years in his youth, the young goalkeeper joined the club's C team in 2004, which at that time was also playing in the Tercera División , the fourth highest Spanish soccer league. There he was used in 15 championship games in his first season and at the end of the season he only ranked eleventh in group 7 with the team (at this time there were 17 different parallel groups in the fourth division). After he had gained his first experience in Spain's fourth division, Adán advanced to a true regular in the goal of the C-Team of the Royal Blues in the 2005/06 season.

He was used in 36 of the total of 38 league games and conceded 29 of the total of 31 goals. With the team he ranked first in Group 7 in the final ranking and was thus entitled to participate in the promotion play-off in Segunda División B , Spain's third-highest football league. There the team survived the first knockout round, which was played in a round trip and a second round, and came after a total score of 2: 1 over the CF Alondras in the two elimination round. In this one met CD Guijuelo , who, after a 1-0 home win but a 2-1 defeat in the second leg in Madrid, made it to the third division due to the away goals rule and there until today (status: 2010 season / 11) lingers.

Professional debut at Real Madrid Castilla

Due to his performance in the third team of the club, Adán was added to the club's B team from the 2006/07 season , which at that time was in the Segunda División , the second-highest division in Spanish football. He also made his official debut as a professional player when he guarded the goal of his team over the full game on August 27, 2006 in the 1-1 away draw against CD Castellón . By October 1, 2006 another five championship appearances for Real Madrid Castilla followed , in the remaining games he had to give way to the more experienced Jordi Codina . However, with the exception of one game in which he let Kiko Casilla come to use. At the end of the season, the team in 19th place barely failed to stay in the league and after only two consecutive professional seasons had to start the new path to the third division.

The main reason for the only six missions last season was an operation after a torn ligament in his knee, which caused him to be out for a long time to heal. After relegation to Segunda División B, Adán was only used as a second goalkeeper next to Felipe Ramos (24 missions). Tomás Mejías , who had come from the C-Team to the B-Team to gain some experience there, also made five championship appearances this season . For him it should be the only competitive appearances for Real Madrid Castilla so far (as of October 2010); after that he was only active in the C-Team. For Adán it went in the following season 2008/09 in the B-team again much better, where he came to a total of 31 missions in the Spanish third division. As in the previous season, however, he failed with the team on a return to promotion and only had to be content with places in the upper quarter of the table.

Takeover in the first team

In the 2009/10 season , the now 22-year-old was presented as an official member of the professional team for the first time, after having accompanied the team on their US tour in the 2006/07 season and in a friendly against a mixed team made his team debut for Palestinian and Israeli soccer players. Already in 2008/09 Adán sat in a majority of the competitive games of the professional team without use on the bench. Since about this time, the now 23-year-old goalkeeper has also trained regularly with the professionals, although he is actually only used for Real Madrid Castilla. In his first official season in the Primera División, he came to 36 of a total of 38 possible appearances in the Segunda División B, the third highest Spanish football league. In the remaining two games he let his younger colleague Felipe Ramos go first. In the 2010/11 season, Adán is only part of the club's senior team. He made his debut in the professional team on December 8, 2010 in the Champions League group game against AJ Auxerre , his first league encounter he played on February 13, 2011 against Espanyol Barcelona . On September 2, 2013, his contract was terminated.

Via Cagliari to Seville

After about a month and a half without a club, Adán Cagliari Calcio joined. He signed a contract on November 19, 2013 until the end of the 2013/14 season . After two appearances in Serie A , Adán returned to Spain in late January 2014 and joined Betis Sevilla .

The time in the junior national teams

Adán gained his first experience in the Spanish U-17 national team, with whom he also celebrated his greatest successes in his national team career to date. He took part with the team at the U-17 European Championship in Portugal in 2003 , during which he also celebrated his 15th birthday and became vice European champion with the team at the end of the tournament. He also took part in the 2003 U-17 World Cup in Finland as a 15-year-old and won two group matches (3: 3 against Sierra Leone ; 3: 2 against South Korea). Previously, he was used during the qualification for this World Cup in the U-17 national team of Spain. With the team he was at the end of the tournament after a 0-1 defeat against the Brazilian age colleagues U-17 vice world champion.

After successfully qualifying, only starting in the second qualifying round, Adán was also appointed to the U-17 national team that took part in the 2004 U-17 European Championship in France . As in the previous year, after a final defeat against France, they became vice European champion again. After a more or less successful time in the Spanish U-17 national team, Adán was also used in the U-19 team in his home country from 2006. He was among other things in the squad of the team that took part in the U-19 European Championship 2006 in Poland and celebrated great success there. After having been the captain of the C-Team for a long time and then captain of Real Madrid Castilla for many years, he led the U-19 national team as captain to the U-19 European championship, the sixth in the association's history.

The following year he took part with the Spanish U-20 national team at the Junior World Cup in Canada , where he led the team as captain to the quarter-finals of the competition . There, however, the team was just defeated by the eventual runner-up from the Czech Republic on penalties. In total, Adán was used in six U-20 internationals this year, five of which he completed during the Junior World Cup in Canada. In addition to his appearances in the Spanish U-17, U-19 and U-20 teams , Adán also played a game for the Spanish U-21 national team in 2007 . He was used on February 6, 2007 in a friendly international match against the English U-21 national team . The game ended in a 2-2 draw. For Adán this was also the last assignment for a national team in his home country.
