Renan Lodi , full name Renan Augusto Lodi dos Santos , (born April 8, 1998 in Serrana ) is a Brazilian football player . He is used in the position of a left defender , alternatively also in the left midfield. His strong foot is the left one.

Career

Athletico Paranaense

Renan Lodi began his career in the junior division of the Athletico Paranaense from Curitiba . At the club, he made the leap into the team's professional squad in 2016. On October 13, 2016, the 30th matchday of the 2016 season , Lodi made his debut in the top Brazilian division . In the away game at Grêmio Porto Alegre , the then eighteen-year-old was in the starting line-up. In the following season 2017 Lodi was in 24 of 38 possible games on the field, 21 of them in the starting line-up. In 2018 Lodi was able to celebrate the first successes with the club. In April of that year he won the Paraná State Championship . He scored his first goal for the club in the eleven games in the competition. In the home game against Maringá FC on March 25, 2018, he scored the 1-0 opening goal in the 38th minute (final score -5-0). In the 2018 season Lodi also made his debut at international club level. It should be a made-to-measure debut. In the Copa Sudamericana 2018 he started all twelve games and scored two goals. He played his first game on April 12, 2018 against Newell's Old Boys from Argentina . In the second leg of the second leg, Lodi scored for the first time in the competition. In the home game against FC Caracas , he scored the goal in the 58th minute to make it 2-1. In the final second leg against Atlético Junior there was a penalty shoot-out . In this Lodi appeared as the fourth shooter. He missed his penalty, but his teammate Thiago Heleno converted his and thus secured Athletico the title. At the end of March 2018, Athletico extended the contract with Lodi until March 2021. Less than six months later, another extension was announced, this time until 2022.

Atlético Madrid

For the 2019/20 season Lodi moved to the Spanish Primera División at Atlético Madrid . He signed a contract that ran until June 30, 2025. Lodi played his first league game for Atlético on August 18, 2019, the first day of the season. In the home game against Getafe FC he was in the starting line-up and received a yellow-red card in the 42nd minute . Lodi scored the first goal for Atlético in a competitive game in the LA League . On September 23, the 14th matchday of the season, he scored the 1-0 lead in the 60th minute in the away game at Granada CF (final score -1: 1).

National team

On September 20, 2019, Lodi was appointed to the squad for the friendly games against Senegal on October 10 and against Nigeria in Singapore on October 13, 2018 by national coach Tite . Lodi made his first appearance in the game against Senegal. He was substituted on for Alex Sandro in the 79th minute of the game . Lodi started the second game against Nigeria.
