Koke , real name Jorge Resurrección Merodio (born January 8, 1992 in Madrid ), is a Spanish football player . The midfielder has been under contract with Atlético Madrid since 2009 , having previously played in all youth teams there.

Career

Koke began his career at Atlético Madrid , for whose youth teams he played from 2000. From the 2008-09 season, he was part of the squad of the second team, with whom he in the Segunda División B played. On September 19, 2009 he came to his first appearance in the Primera División when he was substituted on for the game against FC Barcelona . He scored his first goal on February 26, 2011 when he played against Sevilla FC . With Atlético Madrid he was 2012 Europa League winner and Super Cup winner and 2017/18 Europa League winner again.

Koke played for several Spanish junior national teams and took part in the U-17 World Cup in 2009 , the U-19 European Championship in 2010 and the U-20 World Cup in 2011 . In autumn 2012 he was a participant in the Olympic Games , where Spain was eliminated in the preliminary round.

At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , he was included in the Spanish squad. His only appearance was in the second group game against Turkey. When the game had already been decided 3-0 for Spain, he came onto the field in the closing stages.
