history

The name comes from the Old High German  marcha 'Grenz, Grenzzeichen', as a field name probably associated with that of the former monastic property of Waldzell . Local people speak “Mari” (Maribauer / Pauli in Mari) . In the Franzisceischen cadastre (around 1830) the location is listed as a sharpener , the reasons south were called Krauthaferwiesen and then Gugelland .

Marö belonged to the village of Ebersau (formerly number 23, 27–30). Since the address reform of the municipality on July 1, 2008, the houses also have the address Marö (No. 1 to 5) and form one of the 23 new localities.
