History and sights

The place name Schildorn is of Franconian origin ( Old High German  sciltarin , settlement of royal shield bearers), and should be documented for the first time in 903 in a diocese of Passau .

The Schildorn Church of St. Martin , built 1064–83, was then also the main and mother parish of the northern Hausruck-Kobernaußerwald area, but around 1300 the parish was moved to the now more important Waldzell . Noble von Schildorn were also resident here, about whose residence nothing is known, the family died out in the 13th century, and since then the secular administration has been at a Propsteigericht zu Ried.

Today's church was built in the 14th or 15th century, and from around this time a (branch) parish is mentioned again.

Until 1779 the area was Bavarian (then Innbaiern ), and until 1783 it belonged to the Diocese of Passau, Archdeanate Mattsee , parish Waldzell. When the diocese of Linz was founded, the parish was rebuilt in 1784, which also included Pramet until 1884 . That is why the poet Franz Stelzhamer , born in Großpiesenham, was baptized here in 1802.

On the night of October 14, 1811, the parsonage burned down , which destroyed the parish archives, which is why knowledge of the early modern period is incomplete. The new building is now a listed building. In 1834 a major fire destroyed 18 houses, including the old school.

During the Napoleonic Wars briefly royal Bavarian again , the place has finally belonged to the crown land of Austria above the Enns since 1812 . With the revolution of 1848/49 the local community Schildorn was created and the place also became the political seat of office. In 1887 Pramet became independent as a political municipality.

In 1969/70 an elementary school was set up again, with an upper level until 1975/76, from then on the place belonged to the Schulspängel of the Waldzell secondary school .

During the address reform of the municipality on July 1, 2008, the place was given street names for the first time, the old addresses still followed the system of conscription numbers and were assigned after the construction period, so that the house numbers had become very confusing.
