History, infrastructure and sights

Parish Church of Pramet

The place name is related to Brehm ' Bremse ' (the stinging insect), a relatively common field name (for example in the Pram north of Ried) and -edt , for an abandoned and then resumed settlement. He is mentioned for the first time in writing in a (lost) document in which King Ludwig the child on August 12, 903 transferred several goods to the cathedral chapter of Passau . At that time there was already a mill and a sawmill in Pramet.

In 1371, a Peter der Tuemayr received the “ good, daz is called in Pramach, do we yeczunt hawslich auffsiczen ” from Passau as a fief. The place was a Hofmark . In 1494 this Pramach castle is documented as a castle stables , a small castle or a derelict military seat (Duke Georg von Bayern gives his advice Peter Fröschl to buy several goods, including "Zwen Weir im Pramach bey dem Purckhstall"). It could originally be a Roman sentry on the Noric road Ovilava (Wels) - Bedaium / Bedacum? (Passau) . It is believed to be under the church , but could also have been located to the east on the Höhesporn.

Pramet is still a local traffic junction today, with today's L509  Frankenburger Straße Ried - Frankenburg (in the village km 8.0–9.0) an important crossing over the Hausruck and Kobernaußerwald train , which has been Bavarian - Austrian since ancient times Border crossing was. In the village, today's Schildorner Straße  (L1069) branches off westwards (via Schildorn to Waldzell to the L1064 and on to Lohnsburg ), and at Gutensham eastwards to the L1070  Gutenshamer Straße (to Eberschwang and on to Geiersberg ), which together are the most important east-west connection of the southern Innviertel.

The village church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary has existed since the High Middle Ages , a locally popular pilgrimage to the Virgin Mary, which Waldzell was subject to. According to the oldest Rieder land register from 1446, there was also a bakery, a tavern, a brewery and large fish ponds north of the church.

The parameter cemetery

In 1685 the church was rebuilt in the Baroque style and equipped with statues from the Schwanthaler workshops. The place was Bavarian until 1779, and after the Treaty of Teschen and the Innviertel (then Innbaiern ) it became part of Austria . From 1784 Pramet belonged to the Schildorn parish , in 1884 it became its own parish seat. The Pramet cemetery, which is now a listed building, is outside the village.

Kulturhaus Stelzhamermuseum (old elementary school)

The first elementary school of the community was in 1792. Today it is cultural center and the Stelzhamer museum , commemorating the born Großpiesenham local poet.

In 1968 a new school building (Franz Stelzhamer School) was built. In 1976 the Hartjes shoe factory - originally Rieder - moved here from Neuhofen , it is the largest employer in town. In 1988/89 the parish church was expanded.
