society

Muniesa played in the youth of FC Barcelona from 2002.

On the penultimate match day of the 2008/09 season, when FC Barcelona were already the champions, Muniesa made his Primera División debut in the game against CA Osasuna . It was shortly after half-time for Sylvinho tagged in and got a few minutes before the final whistle for a foul on Antonio Hidalgo , the red card . His coach Pep Guardiola was so angry about the dismissal that he was sent to the stands by referee Antonio Rubinos Pérez as a result. A few days later, Muniesa was on the bench in the 2-0 win in the Champions League final against Manchester United , but was not used.

From the 2012/13 season Muniesa should officially move up in the squad of the first team. In a test match at Hamburger SV on July 24, 2012, Muniesa suffered a cruciate ligament rupture and thus missed the entire first half of the season. After his recovery in February 2013, he gained match practice in the second team until the end of the season.

For the 2013/14 season Muniesa moved to Stoke City on a free transfer , where he signed a four-year contract.

National team

With the Spanish U-17 selection, the defender took part in the U-17 European Championship in 2009 , but failed with his team after three goalless draws in the preliminary round. For six months he was captain of the U-17 squad at the World Cup in Nigeria , where he and his team took third place. Muniesa appeared in five games, in the quarter-final against Uruguay he was sent off in the 45th minute.
