The Margarete-Steiff-Gymnasium (short: MSG ) is the general education high school of the city of Giengen an der Brenz , with learning branches G9 and G8 , in East Württemberg. The school was named in 1980 after Margarete Steiff , the founder of the Steiff toy factory . The school is located near the company premises.
history
Due to the increasing number of pupils, the municipal council decided in 1955 to build a new grammar school in the Schwage district. In January 1956, the Frankfurt architect Kapferer won the competition in which 59 designs were submitted. The foundation stone was laid on May 10, 1957, and the topping-out ceremony was celebrated on November 15 of the same year. The inauguration of the grammar school took place on January 23, 1959 in the presence of the then President of the Stuttgart High School Authority, Bruckmann.
Due to the steadily growing number of students, the new wing was moved into in 1976. According to the reform of the upper level in Baden-Württemberg, the first students passed their Abitur in 2004 according to new guidelines. The school introduced the eight-year course (G8) in the 2004/2005 school year. In the 2008/2009 school year, the municipal music school moved into the high school building. In the 2012/2013 school year, the new fifth graders were able to choose between G8 and G9 when registering.
