Margit Krammer (* in Graz ) is an Austrian visual artist , cartoonist and illustrator .

biography

Krammer completed his studies in stage design at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz and graduated in 1987 with the title Magistra Artium. In 1988 an internship followed in the painters' workshop of the Graz stage and assistant at the Graz theater . In 1986 and 1990 she attended cartoon, illustration and drawing classes at the International Summer Academy for Fine Arts in Salzburg with Friedrich Karl Waechter and Jiří Šalamoun.

Margit Krammer's artistic career began after completing her studies in Graz with stage work for theater , cabaret and cabaret . Then she showed her cartoons and comics in first exhibitions and drew for newspapers , magazines and publishers .

Helmut Eisendle in the Wiener Zeitung on Krammer's cartoons: “The smile is the shadow of the cartoon. A caricature can surprise you or at first sight it can hide its effect and what has been going on in the head of the artist. Because cartoons make you think, they are a surplus of the journalistic colportage, something that increases its value or gives it a punch line, an aperçu, a bon mot. "

Drawings and objects as well as illustrations for projects in the cultural and social field were created. From 1994 drawings and objects by Krammer were shown at home and abroad.

The cultural journalist and author Birgit Schwaner wrote about Krammer's drawings: “Margit Krammer's drawings could well be described as poetic pictures. Not necessarily because, as she says, the artist likes to be inspired by 'literary things' in order to' create my own visual world. Images in the head, memory images, dream images, introspection, thought structures that do not need a real eye. ' Rather, the laconic scarcity and concentration that occurs in these drawings, which at first glance appear so cheerful, are reminiscent of the form of metaphor. Where things are constantly being swapped to make things visible. "

From 1999–2006, Krammer was a member of the Federal Association of Visual Artists Germany, 1999–2006 of the Heidelberger Künstlergruppe 79, and 1991–2003 of Design Austria. It belongs to the collecting society of visual artists in Austria .
