The Marion Township is one of 24 townships in Ogle County in the north of the US -amerikanischen state of Illinois .
geography
Marion Township is located in northern Illinois on the left bank of the Rock River . The township connects in a south-westerly direction to the suburbs of Rockford , the third largest city in the state. Chicago is around 150 km east, the border with Wisconsin around 45 km north and the Mississippi , which forms the border with Iowa , around 80 km west.
The Marion Township is located at 42 ° 05'24 "north latitude and 89 ° 13'04" west longitude and extends over 117.3 km², which is spread over 116.0 km² of land and 1.3 km² of water.
The Marion Township is in the north of the Ogle County and borders in the northeast on the Winnebago County . Within Ogle County, Marion Township is bordered by Scott Township to the east, White Rock Township to the southeast, Pine Rock Township to the south, Oregon-Nashua Township to the southwest, Rockvale Township to the west and separated to the west through the Rock River to Byron Township .

By Marion Township which runs east-west Illinois Route 72 , in Byron crosses the Rock River in the direction of Byron Township. All other roads are county highways as well as subordinate and partly unpaved roads.
A Canadian Pacific Railway runs parallel to State Route 72 and runs west from Chicago .
The nearest airport is Chicago Rockford International Airport, around 15 km northeast on the southern outskirts of Rockford .
