The Byron Township is one of 24 townships in Ogle County in the north of the US -amerikanischen state of Illinois .

Byron Township is located in northern Illinois on the Rock River around 10 km below the city of Rockford . The Wisconsin border is around 25 miles north; the Mississippi , which forms the border with Iowa , is about 80 km to the west.
The Byron Township is located at 42 ° 10 ' N , 89 ° 16' W and extends over 96.3 km², which is spread over 94.7 km² of land and 1.6 km² of water.
The Byron Township is located in the north of the Ogle County and borders on the north and northwest of the Winnebago County . Within Ogle County, Byron Township is bordered in the southwest by the Rock River on the Marion Township , in the south on the Rockvale Township and in the west on the Leaf River Township .

In addition to scattered settlement, the population lives mainly in the city of Byron (with the status " City "), which is mostly in the Byron Township. The part of the city that is on the opposite bank of the Rock River belongs to the Marion Township.
