Markus Widenmeyer (born March 12, 1973 in Boeblingen ) is a German chemist , author and politician ( AfD ). From January 1 to 23, 2018, he was a member of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament ( MdL ).

Live and act

Markus Widenmeyer was born in Böblingen, grew up in Schönaich and graduated from the Goldberg-Gymnasium in Sindelfingen in May 1992 . After doing his basic military service in Roth and Leipheim from July 1992 to July 1993 , he began studying chemistry at the University of Stuttgart in October 1996 and graduated in 1998 from Emil Roduner on " Synthesis and characterization of DeNOx storage catalysts for denitrification of O2-rich, engine exhaust ". He then did his doctorate at the Technical University of Munich under Reiner Anwander and Wolfgang A. Herrmann on the synthesis and derivatization of periodically mesoporous silicates . Since 2001 Widenmeyer has been working in the central research of a global technology group. In October 1998, he began a second degree in physics and philosophy to teaching , which he awarded the degree in 2007 Master of Arts graduated.

Widenmeyer came as a direct candidate for the state election in 2006 in the state election district Breisgau for the Party of Bible-abiding Christians (PBC) and in the state election in 2011 in the state election Böblingen for OPEN - Party of Labor, environmental and family on (ON), but reached only 0.6% (2006) and 1.1% (2011) of the votes. Widenmeyer, who advocates Christian conservative politics, joined the Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) in 2015 after Bernd Lucke and Hans-Olaf Henkel left the party. In the state elections in 2016 he ran as a direct candidate for the AfD in the state electoral district of Böblingen and missed both the direct mandate ( Thekla Walker , Greens , 27.7%) and the second mandate ( Paul Nemeth , CDU , 27.6 %) with 16.5% of the votes %). On January 1, 2018, he took over the state parliament mandate from former parliamentary group leader Jörg Meuthen , who moved to the European Parliament at the end of 2017 to replace Beatrix von Storch . After only a few weeks as a parliamentarian, Widenmeyer resigned his state parliament mandate on January 23, 2018. The AfD parliamentary group gave personal reasons as justification. The Böblingen district association, however, stated that Widenmeyer had resigned his mandate because of the strong tendencies within the AfD parliamentary group to reopen Wolfgang Gedeon to the parliamentary group. Widenmeyer think Gedeon's stance is completely unacceptable, wrote the Stuttgarter Zeitung. According to the newspaper, he had repeatedly contradicted Gedeon's positions and fought against any form of anti-Semitism.

Positions

Markus Widenmeyer is an evangelical Christian. He published his book The Planned Universe in 2019 in the publishing house of the Bible-Faithful Study Community Word and Knowledge . As science suggests creation. The members of the Study Community Word and Knowledge represent a belief that is based on a literal interpretation of the Bible and thus its belief in creation ( creationism ). In his book, Widenmeyer concludes from circumstances of the earth's history and evolution that it is obvious that "behind this world there is a highly intelligent creator who willed us."
