Martin Brauer (* 1971 in Rostock , then Rostock district , now Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ) is a German actor and musician .

Life

Martin Brauer initially studied drums at the Hanns Eisler Music Academy in Berlin from 1987 to 1991 and then from 1995 to 1999 acting at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts there .

Since 1999 he has worked in various theater companies. He had permanent engagements at the Staatsschauspiel Dresden (1999–2001), the Deutsches Theater Berlin (2001–2006), the Theater Magdeburg (2006–2008) and the Centraltheater Leipzig (2008–2011). At the beginning of 2012 he had a guest engagement at the New Theater Halle / Saale . From the 2012/13 season, guest engagements at the Thalia Theater Hamburg and the Centraltheater Leipzig followed. At the Thalia Theater he made his debut together with Rainald Grebe in the production of folk music .

He worked u. a. with the directors Claudia Bauer , Thomas Bischoff , Jorinde Dröse (2008, in Hamlet , at the Centraltheater Leipzig), Dimiter Gotscheff (2004/05 season, as Hierlinger Ferdinand in Tales from the Vienna Woods , Deutsches Theater Berlin), Sascha Hawemann (Leipzig), Andreas Kriegenburg (2007/08 season, as Hettore Gonzaga, Prince of Guatalla, in Emilia Galotti , Theater Magdeburg), Jürgen Kruse (2002/03 season, as Peter in Die Cocktailparty by TS Eliot , Kammerspiele des Deutschen Theater Berlin; season 2003 / 04 as Jochanaan in Salome , Deutsches Theater Berlin), Hans Neuenfels , Thomas Ostermeier (1997, in Mann ist Mann , Baracke at the Deutsches Theater), Friedo Solter (as Templar in Nathan der Weise , Deutsches Theater Berlin), Hasko Weber and Peter Zadek together.

Martin Brauer has been a permanent member of the ensemble at the Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater Schwerin since the 2016/17 season . There he played u. a. the theater director Hassenreuter in Die Ratten (premiere: 2016/17 season, director: Steffi Kühnert ), the title role in Liliom (premiere: 2016/17 season, director: Alice Buddeberg ), Serge in art (premiere: 2017/18 season, Director: Martin Nimz ) and the actor Josef Tura in To Be or Not to Be (Premiere: Season 2017/18, Director: Steffi Kühnert). In the 2018/19 season he will take on the roles of Theseus / Oberon in the Shakespeare comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream . Furthermore, Brauer was seen in the title role of Cyrano de Bergerac at the Schwerin Castle Festival in 2019, directed by Alejandro Quintana .

In 2018 Brauer received the Conrad Ekhof Prize for his "outstanding acting achievements" at the Schwerin State Theater .

From 1999 to 2001 Brauer was a guest lecturer for drama at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig . Since 2013 he has worked as an acting lecturer at the Academy for Performing Arts Baden-Württemberg in Ludwigsburg .

Brauer also worked in some film and television productions. In the cinema he was in meat, my vegetables can be seen in a supporting role as a band member Torsten. He had episode roles in the TV series SOKO Wismar (2012, as a beach bar owner and witness Robin König), Heldt (2015, as a poker player and bodyguard Maik Mallek) and In all Friendship (2015, in a dramatic leading role as Oliver Ross, who gets into an argument with his former best friend).

Martin Brauer has played in various bands and band projects for many years, such as the funk band "the finerippes", the " Tom Waits project" and "Sofa 8". Since 2005 he has played regularly with Rainald Grebe in the band " Kapelle der Versöhnung ", where he participated in various programs and with which he also recorded several CDs. As a drum teacher he worked at music schools in Rostock and Wismar .

Brauer lives in Rostock and in the Alt Farpen district of Blowatzer .
