Mask in Blue is a German musical comedy from 1943 directed by Paul Martin . The film premiered on January 15, 1943. The film refers to the operetta Mask in Blue, written by Fred Raymond .

action

Gitta Stadelmann is the daughter of the quirky animal painter Sebastian Stadelmann. Gitta sings and dances while she is doing housework and happens to be watching Georg Harding, an operetta composer, through the open window. He is enthusiastic about the demonstration and Gitta's talent and flatters himself with Gitta. He promises to help her develop a career in the theater against her father's resistance. Harding wants theater director Bommerlund to engage Gitta for the operetta “Mask in Blue” composed by Harding. Before Gitta becomes involved, there are still a few hurdles to be overcome, the responsibility of the lyricist Stanzinger and the floor manager Seehauser.

Film music

The music of the film comes from Raymond's operetta of the same name, but the plot of the film has nothing to do with that of the operetta. Clara Tabody, who participated in Raymond's operetta as early as 1937, sings in the film among others “Sassa, Sassa” and “Ja, das Temp'rament”.
