Marina is a German hit film from 1960 by Paul Martin with the Italian Giorgia Moll and the European boxing champion Bubi Scholz in the leading roles.

action

At the center of the very thin plot are numerous popular pop interpreters and other singers of the time such as Renate Holm, Rex Gildo and Rocco Granata, who is here again performing his eponymous hit from the previous year, Marina .

Several young people who are enthusiastic about music find in the lovable, friendly, older Mr. Herzlieb, night watchman of a pawn shop specializing in instruments, a helpful supporter of their passion: singing and making music. Using a short-wave transmitter, they can even send their hits as far as Brazil, whereupon the music enthusiasts even receive an engagement. In a second storyline, the busted Mary Miller is at the center of the action, whose father Robert Miller is a well-known conductor and band leader. She finds a new home with the enthusiastic music lovers. One day she meets the charming Ralf Moebius and falls in love with him. Father and daughter are reconciled and nothing stands in the way of the two young people getting married.

Production notes

Marina was created from May 15 to June 25, 1960 in the CCC studios in Berlin-Spandau . The world premiere was on August 19, 1960.

The film structures were made by Heinrich Weidemann and Paul Markwitz .

For the 22-year-old Italian Giorgia Moll, Marina was her debut in German film. She spoke her text in Italian. The professional boxer Bubi Scholz took on his only leading role in a movie. The well-known Swiss band leader and long-time Acapulco resident Teddy Stauffer , who embodies Giorgia Moll's father, also made his German film debut here.

In addition to the professional singers mentioned above, Trude Herr and Rudolf Platte also give a comical dance and singing performance as a duet with the evergreen “Buona Sera, Signorina”.

Reviews

Paimann's film lists summed up: “… where about hits… from yesterday and today the plot falls short; more record stars than actors, no big presentation. "
