Matsuko Deluxe ( Japaneseマツコ·デラックス. Matsuko Derakkusu * 26. October 1972 in the prefecture of Chiba ) is a Japanese entertainer , columnist , essayist and a television personality, especially as a drag queen was known. He participates in numerous television broadcasts of Japanese television as a commentator or moderator.

life and career

On 26 October 1972 he was in the district Inage-ku of the city of Chiba in Chiba Prefecture , Japan born. After graduating from high school, he attended Tokyo Max Beauty College ( Shinagawa-ku , Tokyo ). After that, he worked in the beauty industry. He went to the editorial office of the monthly gay magazine "Badi" and worked there as a reporter and editor for the magazine. In his late twenties he withdrew into family life, but became a guest on the talk show "I Live My Life", which was hosted by Usagi Nakamura, who read an article by him in the days as editor . He was chosen. It was a chance for him to draw attention to his stage name "Matsuko Deluxe" and his special visual and language skills. Radio and television activities

In 2000, Matsuko first appeared in "Evenai", the predecessor broadcast of "One Night Rock'n Roll" of the station's Fuji TV on television. In 2005 he appeared as a commentator for the TOKYO MX information program: "Crazy at 5!". Where he has performed regularly on Mondays since 2018. Controversy

In 2010, he became known for his " feuds " with many Japanese television broadcasters because of their perceived image. In the same year, he openly criticized the decision of the governor of Tokyo, Shintarō Ishihara , to restrict the purchase of anime and manga for under-18s, and the governor's disregard for homosexuality and transvestism . In 2012, Matsuko participated in a debate on the national pride of Chinese , Koreans, and Japanese . When a Korean-Japanese guest said that "Japanese entertainment is like field baseball, Korean entertainment is like professional baseball, " he replied that K-pop was "nothing but an imitation of American popular music." When a Korean-Japanese participant pointed out that Lady Gaga's popularity in Japan was a sign of J-pop's weakness , Matsuko replied that "Japanese music is open to many cultures , including Korean," and said, " if K-pop artists don't like Japan the way it is, they wouldn't have to stay in Japan. ”Matsuko's statements then caused controversy on the Korean Internet . In 2015, he described a possible participation of the Japanese AKB48 idol group in the opening ceremony of the Olympic Summer Games in Tokyo 2020 as "something embarrassing for Japan".
