Michael Angelidis (born June 27, 1985 in Woodbridge , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who was last under contract with HC Bozen from the Austrian Erste Bank Ice Hockey League and played for them on the position of the left winger .

Career

Angelidis spent his junior years from 2002 to 2006 with the Owen Sound Attack in the Ontario Hockey League . Within the four years, the striker completed 270 games for the attack and scored 158 points . For his social or community engagement he was awarded the Dan Snyder Memorial Trophy at the end of the 2005/06 season . As a winner of the OHL, he also qualified for the CHL Humanitarian of the Year award of the entire Canadian Hockey League . There he prevailed against the winners of the Western Hockey League and Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec .

Undrafted , the Canadian switched to the professional field for the 2006/07 season , where he signed a contract with the Carolina Hurricanes from the National Hockey League in July 2006 . There he was first used in the ECHL at the Florida Everblades , but soon played in the farm team Albany River Rats in the American Hockey League . He belonged to this until the end of the 2009/10 season . As a free agent , Angelidis moved to the Tampa Bay Lightning franchise in the summer of 2010 . There he was a regular regular on the farm teams in the following years - between 2010 and 2012 the Norfolk Admirals and between 2012 and 2016 the Syracuse Crunch - in the AHL. With the Admirals, he won the Calder Cup in 2012 . In the total of six years in the Tampas organization, he came again and again to NHL missions for the Lightning from the 2011/12 season .

In August 2016, the attacker finally moved to the Stockton Heat in the AHL after failing to find employment with an NHL franchise over the summer. After fulfilling the annual contract, Angelidis moved to the Italian club HC Bozen in the summer of 2017 . After a season in the South Tyrolean jersey and winning the EBEL , the Canadian ended his active career.
