Michael Steven "Mike" Brown (born June 24, 1985 in Northbrook , Illinois ) is an American ice hockey player who played 426 games for the Vancouver Canucks , Anaheim Ducks , Toronto Maple Leafs , Edmonton Oilers , San Jose Sharks and Canadiens de Montréal has played in the National Hockey League on the position of right winger .

Mike Brown began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth development program of the USA Hockey National Team Development Program , for which he was active in the North American Hockey League from 2001 to 2003 . He then played for two years on the University of Michigan team . During this time, the attacker was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2004 in the fifth round as a total of 159 players by the Vancouver Canucks . From 2005 to 2007 Brown initially played exclusively for Vancouver's farm team from the American Hockey League (AHL), the Manitoba Moose , before making his debut in the National Hockey League for the Canucks during the 2007/08 season .

In February 2009, the American was transferred to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Nathan McIver . For the Californians, the right winger was on the ice in 116 games, scored twelve points and spent 191 minutes in the penalty box. On June 25, 2010, the Ducks gave him in exchange for a five-round vote in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft to the Toronto Maple Leafs .

In March 2013, Brown was transferred to the Edmonton Oilers . In October of the same year, another barter followed, the American was transferred to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a four-round right to vote in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft . In February 2016, Brown was supposed to be sent to the AHL via the waiver , but was signed by the Canadiens de Montréal . There he ended the season. At the turn of the year 2016/17 he played his last professional games for the Cleveland Monsters from the AHL.

International

For the USA , Brown took part in the 2003 U18 World Cup , the 2005 U20 Junior World Cup and the 2011 World Cup.
