Mistelbach is a cadastral community and village of Großschönau in the Gmünd district in Lower Austria .
geography
Mistelbach is located in northwestern Lower Austria ( Waldviertel ) at an altitude of approx. 636 meters southeast of Weitra. Greiner Straße (B119) passes east of the village . Mistelbach is from the same stream flows through Mistelbach.
history
The village of Mistelbach was founded around 1165 by Hadmar II von Kuenring . Mistelbach got its name from Hadmar's wife, Euphemia von Mistelbach in the Weinviertel. According to stories, Hadmar wanted to alleviate her homesickness by naming a village after Euphemias' hometown. Originally Mistelbach was an independent municipality until it joined the Großschönau municipality in 1968 and thus became a cadastral municipality .
Volunteer firefighter
The Mistelbach volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1925 and provides fire protection and general help. There is a fire water pond , an underground fire water tank and a hydrant in Mistelbach for the extraction of fire water .
Infrastructure
Mistelbach is connected to the Austrian road network by Greiner Straße (B119) . Furthermore, a supply road leads from Mistelbach to the neighboring village of Spital , which already belongs to the municipality of Weitra . In 1987 the planning of the approx. Three kilometer long "Haselberg Forest Road" began. Due to long delays caused by planning obstacles, the forest road could not be opened until 1997.
