Morra De Sanctis is an Italian commune with 1,188 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Avellino , Campania region . It is located 55 km east of the provincial capital. Originally the municipality was called Morra Irpina , it was renamed after the literary historian and multiple Minister of Education of the Kingdom of Italy, Francesco De Sanctis , who was born here in 1817. The municipality is a member of the Comunità Montana Alta Irpinia and in the Regione Agraria n.3 - Alto Calaggio e Alto Ofanto . The districts are Cervino, Chiancheroni, Orcomone and Selvapiana.

The municipality is the seat of the Parco Letterario Francesco De Sanctis , an initiative supported with EU funds.
