The municipality of Sapahaqui is a district in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The municipality of Sapahaqui is one of five municipalities in the Loayza province and is located in the western part of the province. It borders the province of Aroma to the southwest , the municipality of Luribay to the southeast , the municipality of Cairoma to the northeast , and the province of Murillo to the north .

The municipality has 141 localities ( localidades ), the central place of the municipality is Sapahaqui with 181 inhabitants in the western part of the municipality, the largest localities in the municipality are Tacobamba with 397 inhabitants and Khola Alta with 354 inhabitants. ( 2012 census )

geography

The municipality of Sapahaqui is located at an average altitude of 2500  m in the Serranía de Sicasica cordillera , between the Bolivian Altiplano in the west and the Amazon lowlands in the east. The mean average temperature of the region is 12 ° C, the annual precipitation is 500 to 600 mm (see climate diagram Cochabamba), with a pronounced dry season in the months of June and July.
