NGC 1725 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Eridanus at the southern sky . It is an estimated 169 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 60,000 ly.
The galaxies NGC 1721 , NGC 1723 , NGC 1728 are located in the same area of the sky .
The Type Iap supernova SN 2009F was observed here.
The object was discovered on November 10, 1885 by Edward Emerson Barnard .
