NGC 1720 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBab in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is an estimated 182 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 110,000 light years across.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 1726 , NGC 1752 , IC 398 , among others .
The object was discovered on December 30, 1861 by Heinrich Louis d'Arrest .
