NGC 1728 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sa in the constellation Eridanus at the southern sky . It is an estimated 163 million light years from the Milky Way and about 95,000 light years across. Together with NGC 1721 and NGC 1725 , it forms the isolated galaxy trio KTS 28 .
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 1723 .
The object was discovered on November 10, 1885 by Edward Emerson Barnard .
