NGC 6357 is an emission nebula in the constellation Scorpio , which is 8,000 light years from the solar system. It is a star formation region near the center of the Milky Way and contains a multitude of hot, young stars as well as gas and dust clouds that are made to glow under the influence of ultraviolet radiation and stellar winds . Because of its appearance, this object is also called the Lobster Nebula .
