NGC 6366 is a faint globular cluster in the constellation Serpent Bearer (Latin Ophiuchus ), which is also called Ophiuchus Ghost Globular . It is estimated to be 11,700 light years from the solar system. Its faint appearance is explained by a low compression of the stars towards the center, a low overall luminosity and by interstellar dust that darkened the cluster.
The object was discovered on April 12, 1860 by August Winnecke .
