The 2005/06 season was the eighth season of the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL), the top Canadian division in women's ice hockey at the time. The Montréal Axion defeated the Brampton Thunder 1-0 in the championship final and thus secured their first championship title in the NWHL.

Due to the hosting of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , Italy , a large part of the season took place without the top domestic players from previous years, as they were in a separate preparation program for the Olympic ice hockey tournament with the Canadian ice hockey association Hockey Canada .

Attendees

In the NWHL the same seven teams took part in the 2005/06 season as in the previous season: The Central Division continued to consist of the Toronto Eros , Brampton Thunder , Oakville Ice and the Durham Lightning . In the Eastern Division played again the Ottawa Raiders , Montréal Axion and the Avalanche du Québec .

The regular season began on September 17, 2005 and ended on March 5, 2006.
