The Košarkaška liga Srbije (KLS) ( German  Basketball League of Serbia ) is the top division in Serbian basketball . The Serbian men's basketball championship is held in the league. The national champion takes part in the Euroleague . The league is made up of two groups. In the first group, all teams that have made it into the league play; except for those teams that play in the ABA , the successor organization to the Yugoslav basketball league YUBA . In the second group, called the Super League , the teams from the ABA and the top three from the first group play. The top four in the super league then play for the championship title.

history

The Košarkaška liga Srbije was created in 2006 after the dissolution of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro . Before that, the Serbian and Montenegrin basketball clubs formed a joint national basketball championship, which in turn emerged in 1992 from the Yugoslav basketball league YUBA. After the failure of the Montenegrin teams, the remaining Serbian teams briefly formed the Naša Liga (Our League), until a Serbian basketball league was officially established.

The course of the season

The season in the Serbian basketball league is divided into two sections with a subsequent play-off phase for the top four teams.

Phase 1 of the regular season

In the first phase of the regular season, all fourteen teams play against every other team both at home and away, with the exception of these teams (seasonally four to five teams) that Serbia is known in the Adriatic Cup (also known as the NBL Cup ) represented.

Phase 2 of the regular season

During this phase, also known as the Serbian Super League , you will also play at home and away against every opposing team. The round consists of the best teams from the first phase (seasonally three to four teams) and the Adriatic League teams. The number in the Super League is limited to eight teams.

Play-offs
