The 2003/04 season was the 22nd edition of the highest Finnish women's ice hockey league , the Naisten SM-sarja . The league was carried out by the Finnish ice hockey association Suomen Jääkiekkoliitto .

mode

First, all teams played a double round. The first two teams in the preliminary round qualified directly for the play-off semi-finals, while the other four participants in the quarter-finals played off two other participants in the semi-finals. The two quarter-final losers played off the participants in the relegation in the play-downs.

The quarter- and semi-finals were held in best-of-three mode, the final in best-of-five mode. There was only one game for third place.

In the main round, a double round (two home and away games) were played. The first two teams qualified directly for the semi-finals.

Semifinals

In the semi-finals, the qualified teams competed against each other according to the best-of-five mode; The 1st played against the worse placed quarter-final winner and the 2nd against the better placed. The better placed team had home rights first.

Play-downs

In the play-downs, the two losers of the quarter-finals competed against each other. The winner had managed to stay in the league, the loser had to fight for the remaining place in the SM-sarja in the relegation against the first place in the I-Divisioona.

Relegation

The team of the Hockey Cats Jyväskylä was able to assert itself against the winner of the I-Divisioona, LoKV Lohja , so that there were neither promoted nor relegated.
