The Heerener Holz nature reserve is located in the Unna district in North Rhine-Westphalia .
The approximately 66 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 1992 , extends southeast of the core town of Kamen , directly on the western edge of the Kamen district of Heeren-Werve . West of the area extends the A 1 and northwest is the Kamener cross .
The protection takes place
- for the preservation, development and restoration of communities and biotopes / habitats of certain wild animal and plant species. Species-poor oaks - hornbeam forests , species-rich oak-hornbeam forests, stocks of alder - ash forests or ash floodplain forests , old wood stocks , forest edge areas, standing and lying dead wood , pronounced herbaceous and shrub sections , natural water-bearing ditches , natural water-bearing ditches are particularly considered to be biotopes or communities and hollows
