The Alstedder Mark nature reserve is located in the Unna district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The approximately 68 ha area, which was placed under nature protection under the code number UN-008 in 1985 , extends northwest of the core city of Lünen between Bork , a district of the city of Selm in the north and Alstedde in the south. The B 236 runs not far to the east, the Lippe flows to the west and the Lippeaue Selm nature reserve extends over around 100 hectares .

The protection is due to

  • the occurrence of the highly endangered birds of prey in North Rhine-Westphalia, the red kite and honey buzzard, as well as other endangered and rare bird, amphibian and insect species
  • the scientific importance of the isolated, valuable forest area, which has been able to develop for centuries without human influence
  • the scenic beauty of the extensive, diverse and near-natural forest area
  • the restoration of communities in near-natural forest complexes
