The Bahnwald nature reserve (UN-035) lies in the area of ​​the municipality of Holzwickede and the town of Schwerte in the Unna district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The approximately 12 hectare area was placed under nature protection in 1997 under the code number UN-035 . It extends east of Geisecke , a district of the town of Schwerte , and west of the 19.2 hectare Hengsen reservoir . The L 677 state road runs along the western edge of the area, the L 673 to the north and the L 662 to the west. The Ruhr flows to the south and the 80 hectare Bahnwald nature reserve (UN-028) extends to the east .
