The Bahnwald nature reserve (UN-028) is located in the municipality of Holzwickede in the Unna district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The approximately 80 ha area, which encloses the 19.2 ha Hengsen reservoir , was placed under nature protection in 1992 under the code number UN-028 . It extends northeast of Geisecke , a district of the city of Schwerte . The state road L 673 runs not far to the north and the A 1 to the north-west , the Ruhr flows not far to the south-east and the 12 hectare Bahnwald nature reserve (UN-035) extends to the west .
