The Beversee nature reserve is located in the city of Bergkamen in the Unna district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Area description

The approximately 100 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection under the code number UN-002 in 1979 , includes the Beversee and extends between the core town of Werne in the north and the core town of Bergkamen in the south. The Datteln-Hamm Canal flows on the northwestern edge of the area , the B 233 runs on the eastern edge, and the Lippe flows north . The Beverbach flows through the area and feeds the Beversee.

Protection goals and measures

The aim of protection is preservation and promotion

  • of communities of open water bodies and silting zones with rare and endangered water birds, near-natural fish stocks and the other characteristic animal and plant species; Small bodies of water should be secured and optimized
  • the wet and wet meadow vegetation that is dependent on extensive grassland use as well as tall herbaceous vegetation with its specific plant and animal species.
