The city of Nazımiye ( Zazaisch Qısle ) in the east of the Turkish province of Tunceli is the administrative seat (İlçe Merkez ) of the district of the same name. It is located about 35 kilometers by road (as the crow flies: 25 km) northeast of the provincial capital Tunceli between two branches of the Pülümür Çayi.

geography

The district borders on the central district ( Merkez ) in the west, the district Mazgirt in the south, the district Pülümür in the north and the district Yayladere (province Bingöl ) in the east.

The highest peaks in the district are the mountains Düzgün Baba (2,097 m), Hamik Baba (2,133 m) and Bedir (2,614 m). With the Pülümür Çayi and the Peri Çayi, two rivers flow through his area.

The smallest district in the province consists of the district town (42% of the district population) and 25 villages ( Köy , Mz .: Köyler ) with an average of 83 inhabitants. The population numbers range from 267 ( Aşağıdoluca ) down to 15. Nine villages have more inhabitants than the average.

With 6.6 inhabitants per km² the district has the second lowest population density , for comparison the provincial value is 11.6.

history

The establishment of the place is more recent than that of other cities in Tunceli, such as Çemişgezek , Pertek or Mazgirt . Its original name was Qızılkilise ("Red Church") or Gamirvank ( poor. "Red Monastery"). This was changed in 1896 in honor of Nazıme Sultan, the daughter of Abdülhamid II . The pilgrimage site of Düzgün Baba , which is important for Alevis, is located in Nazımiye . Nazımiye has been a district since 1876 and belonged to the Vilâyet Mamuret ül - Aziz (now Elâzığ) until 1886 .
