Nebraska-Jim (original title: Ringo del Nebraska ) is a spaghetti western directed by the unnamed Mario Bava and Antonio Román , which appeared in 1966 . In German-speaking countries, the premiere took place on December 6th of this year.
action
The slightly older Marthy Hillmann and his pretty wife Kay live on a farm; there is constant tension between the two. When one day the young cowboy Ringo Nebraska arrives at their property, both are fascinated; Marthy from his skillful handling of the rifle and Kay from his tart but warm charm. Marthy's life is made difficult by the insidious Carter who has caused him numerous harm; but so far he has not been able to convince the sheriff, who is devoted to drinking, to take action against his sworn opponent. Carter has mastered the art of dispelling suspicions. With Ringo, Carter's people clash for the first time in the saloon and from this point on they try to ambush and fight him too. When Marthy is wounded in another argument, Carter kills the sheriff and puts the blame on Ringo. Sheriff Brack organizes a vigilante group when Ringo's innocence is revealed. Carter rides with his men to the Hillmann Ranch, where he harasses Kay, knowing about Marthy's past entanglements. Nebraska can kill the men and eventually Carter upon his arrival. He hands over $ 50,000 found from a bank robbery to Brack and his vigilante group. Kay's request to stay with her knocks out Nebraska and rides away.
criticism
With the best will in the world, one cannot ascribe any particular originality to the “average” film, believes Christian Keßler , who, however, attests to the director the “solidity of craftsmanship” of a “stylist”. The Protestant film observer says: "This Italian-Spanish western is, as usual, hard and contains iron, but shows some not uninteresting deviations from the classic American type."
Remarks
According to producer Lucisano, Antonio Román, who was named the sole director in the opening credits, was released after two days of shooting and Mario Bava took over the direction.
The exterior shots of the film were made in La Pedriza .
Vittorio Bezzi and "4x4 di Nora Orlandi " interpret the film song Quando muore il sole .
